I heard the distinctive screech of the Red-tailed Hawks before I saw them on the mountain this morning. They were celebrating a breakfast on the mountain peak. I loved watching the smaller male use his tail as he held over his mate. The Red-tailed hawk is capable of “kiting,” holding still against the wind on set wings, much like a kite tugging against string. A Peek into the Rehabilitation of a Young Red-Tailed Hawk! Back in October, our amazing friend @JohnDebacker came to the rescue of this young red-tailed hawk after he was hit by a car on Sunrise Highway. When he arrived to our hospital this hawk couldn’t perch, refused to eat on his own, and had a fractured wing that needed time to heal.
