Nicknamed the ‘Boneshaker’, this 1860’s Velocipede was very uncomfortable and bumpy to ride 🚲 They were the first bicycles to have cranks and pedals, as well as front wheel drive and ankle rests to keep the rider’s feet clear on down-hill runs! It had a solid wrought iron frame and metal tyres, with pedals fitted to the front wheels. We have to say we’re glad the bicycle has evolved since then, with added comfort, and appeal!
