Have you ever wondered how a medieval coin is made? As the name suggests, a hammered coin is made by placing a blank disk of metal between two iron dies, each engraved with the designs for the front (obverse) and back (reverse) of the coin and then struck hard with a hammer. Dave the Moneyer and Lincolnshire legend, had the pleasure of showing us how the process is demonstrated.
